MONTVALE, NJ (September 2016) – Shelter Our Pets is proud to announce that Sergeant Gidget Petry of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Bureau of Police Services has been named President effective September 13, 2016. Shelter Our Pets provides a specialized service, offering loving care and shelter to pets of abuse victims, either with a foster family or at an area kennel, until they can be reunited with their owners.
Lynn Gregorski, Co-Founder and last serving President will be moving into the role of Vice President with a focus on Fundraising and Development as her two consecutive terms has finished. “Sergeant Gidget Petry has been a friend, a mentor and a huge supporter of Shelter Our Pets. I can’t think of anyone better to lead the organization.”
Petry’s experience with both emergency management and animals is vast. After over 10 years assigned to the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management, she was promoted in 2014 and moved back to Patrol Operations. Petry currently acts as the Director of the Bergen County Animal Response Team and has trained over 9000 volunteers for emergency response in Bergen County during her stay in Emergency Management and continues to train CART volunteers for emergency response for animals of disasters. In addition to Petry’s many accomplishments, she is also certified as an Animal Control Officer and an Animal Cruelty Investigator.
Petry goes on to say that her new role as President of Shelter Our Pets will be challenging yet rewarding. “I would love nothing more than to stand alongside Lynn, the Board and the most amazing group of volunteers and take this organization to the next level. Our mission is strong and along with being able to help victims in Bergen County and surrounding areas, it’s important to expand our mission throughout the State of New Jersey. Who knows, maybe one day we will be the model used for other states.”
