“My art has a playful, illustrative quality, partly inspired by my children’s picture books. Those books are designed to introduce serious topics - like depression and eating disorders to children - in a delicate, sensitive manner. I am inspired by nature: using color to simplify its rich complexity and using computer graphics to achieve a crisp clarity of line. I also work with a blend of watercolor and pencil as well as encaustic. No matter the medium, I have used art to express my ideas and deepest emotions. It has been one of the constants in my life.”
